Dominic Lees’ first feature film, “Outlanders”, has won the top prizes at the Bragacine Film Festival in Portugal – “Best Film” and “Best Director”, and at the Festival Cine Pobre in Cuba - “Best Feature Film” and “International Critics Prize”.  The film, which continues to screen at international film festivals and sell around the world, launches a film career following a decade as a writer, director of Short Films and television drama director.

Lees’ career began when David Puttnam handed him the “Best Student Film” prize for his graduation short, “Borderland”. Lees had studied at the Northern Film School in Britain and with his mentors Krzysztof Zanussi and Krzysztof Kieslowski in Warsaw, Poland. His multi-award winning short film was selected by the Venice Film Festival and shown worldwide. He continued making short films, including “Shark Hunt” for Channel Four and the BBC.  Lees also began directing TV drama, including the groundbreaking series “This Life”, as well as hospital and police dramas for British television.

Dominic Lees lives in London and works internationally. As well as studying in Poland, he has worked as a director in France and received a scholarship from the Nipkow Program for a residency in Berlin. He speaks fluent French, Polish and decent German. His next film is an anglo-french co-production set on the island of Corsica.
